if you have a lot of artwork to display, taking part in a group exhibition can be a cheaper than entering lots of pieces for an open group exhibition where you are charged per piece of work you display.

instead when we organise group shows, the space is split as evenly as possible between the 8 artists who take part. each artist also has their name & an image featured on our flyers & posters.

if you do take part, you can display between 4-12 pieces of work (we will let you know how many will fit once we have everyone’s information in) & the hanging fee is a total of £50 per artist. your name & an image of your artwork will be included on the flyer.

IMAGES

please send images to headspace@eggspace.org. please label your images with your name & the title of your artwork in the following format: ‘john smith-blue landscape’.

if you are unsure about sizing/sending your images then please email us or phone us on 0780 726 7420 and ask to speak to jazamin or just send us large JPEG, TIFF or PDF images & we will edit/size them for you! we are happy to help us out if you get stuck!

please be aware the images you send us will be used for publicising the exhibition on our website as well as on our facebook page: www.facebook.com/headspace.eggspace. sometimes we are also asked for images to be used on websites or in magazines or newspapers by people who are reviewing the exhibitions, if you have any concerns, again email us or phone us on 0780 726 7420.

FLYER IMAGE: ASAP!

we need an image for the flyer/posters as soon as possible. this image will need to be at least 1000 x 1000 pixels in size at 300 PPI & preferably a CMYK image so that the quality is good enough for printing. please note we will crop your image so that it is square like the images on a flyer from a previous exhibition & you may wish to do this yourself before sending it in.

WEBSITE IMAGES AND LABEL INFORMATION: 22/08/11

we will need images of your work for the website & your label information ideally by monday 22nd august. we plan out the exhibition space beforehand as it can be too busy at the egg to do this when the cafe is open & we also hang your artwork for you. we need this information as well as your images in advance so that we can let you know what work will fit into the exhibition & so that we can prepare the labels, price lists & the website.

the images you send will be used here on our website & also on our facebook page to promote the exhibition. please make your images no smaller than 750 pixels (longest side) at 72 PPI & preferably RGB images. please ensure each image has the whole piece  of artwork in it and that it is a facing image (i.e. not from the side or on an angle). please also send good quality images that are not blurry as you want to show your work off in the best possible light!

you can fill your label information out online here. you will need to fill a separate form out for each piece of work you want to exhibit. or you can download a group label information form to fill out & email back to us!

ARTWORK

please note: we are not always at the egg & we do not work for the egg! we are self-employed & we do other work in other places. if you just turn up to drop off or collect your work on a day/time other than those outlined below you probably won’t find us there! we have tried to be as accommodating as we can with regards to times/days & have put morning & evening times to try to suit the different working hours you might have. if you still cannot make the dates, please email us or phone us on 0780 726 7420 & we will try to arrange a different day/time with you.

ARTWORK DROP OFF: 30/08/11 or 31/08/11

we will need you to drop your artwork off on
tuesday 30th august either between 10:00 - 11:00am
or on
wednesday 31st august between 10:00 - 11:00am

please label your artwork (either on the back or by attaching a label to it somewhere) with your name, the title of the piece & which way up it goes.

also, please attach 2 mirror plates to the sides of all framed works or to pieces on canvas, preferably painted white. (tip: it’s easier to paint them white & let them dry before attaching them to your work!) if your work is very large or heavy you may wish to attach 4 mirror plates.

paintings do not need to be framed unless you want to frame them. drawings & photographs do not need to be framed (but it will look better if they are). If they are not, we recommend that if they are on paper that they are at least mounted & we can hang them using bulldog clips. we do not accept work in clip frames as they cannot be secured to the walls properly and if they fall off can cause injury.

ARTWORK COLLECTION: 26/09/11 or 27/09/11

you can collect any unsold artwork on either
monday 26th september either between 10:00 - 11:00am or at 5:30pm
or on
tuesday 27th september between 10:00 - 11:00am

OPENING: 01/09/11 between 7:00pm - 8:30pm

the opening will take place on thursday 1st september between 7:00pm - 8:30pm. you may invite your friends & family along if you want to. there will be wine, beer & juice available which you can take around the egg while you look at the artwork. the cafe does remain open for people to eat while the opening takes place, but the very upstairs part of the egg is reserved for people attending the opening.

FEES

a 30% non-refundable deposit of £15.00 will need to be paid to secure your place in the exhibition, the remaining 70% of the fee (£35.00) can be paid when you drop off your artwork at the end of august.

If you would like to pay by cash or cheque, please make an appointment with us to bring your deposit in and then bring the remainder of your fee with your artwork on tuesday 30th or wednesday 31st august 2011. Alternatively, you can post your cheque (made payable to ‘Headspace’) to: HeadSpace The Egg, 16-18 Newington, Liverpool, L1 4ED. If you choose to pay by Paypal please send your payment to: headspace@eggspace.org. For BACS payments, please enquire for more details.

we are not responsible for insuring your artwork, it is up to you to do this if you so wish. while we make every effort to look after your work while we are hanging it, we are unable to pay for any damages that may occur while it is at EggSpace. we strongly recommend you wrap your work with bubble wrap to protect for when it is stored with us before we hang it & after we take it down.
